Jordan Heading was on fire on Sunday night, dropping 44 points during Taichung Wagor’s 119-111 victory over Tainan TSG, Sunday at Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science Shao Tsung Gymnasium.
Capturing their 18th win in 27 games, the Suns secured second seed in the 2021-22 T1 League playoffs.
And Heading made sure that Taichung would not falter versus the upset-hungry GhostHawks.
Up by as much as 18 points early in the final frame, Will Artino powered Tainan to a huge rally, cutting the lead down to six, 117-111, with 43 ticks left.
Taichung though was able to waste a lot of time on the clock before Heading punched in his 43rd and 44th points from the stripe to seal the win.
Heading ended up going 10-of-11 from the field, draining six treys, while going 6-of-10 from the line. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists.
Anthony Tucker supported Heading with 26 points and 11 assists. Sani Sakakini and Ting Shengju added 16 markers apiece.
New Taipei fell to 6-22 — 1.5 games behind Taoyuan for the last play-in slot.
Artino got 30 points and 12 rebounds for the Ghosthawks, while Charles García and Marcus Gilbert added 25 points apiece. Garcia also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Meanwhile, over at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, New Taipei defeated Taoyuan, 132-119.
Fil-Am guard Avery Scharer was stupendous in the game, producing 25 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds, and two steals.
New Taipei went up to 15-12 in the standings to tie Taiwan Beer.
