Zamboanga Valientes’ Avery Scharer detained by immigration

Avery Scharer went to social media to plead for help.

On Friday evening, the prolific 36-year-old Filipino-American guard was detained at Manila International Airport Terminal 1.

Scharer is signed with the Zamboanga Valientes for the 2023 ABL Invitational Tournament.

According to Valientes team owner Junnie Navarro, it might have something to do with Scharer’s passport but it is already being sorted out.

Navarro also assured that their owners are already helping Scharer

“I’m being wrongfully detained and sent to jail for something I did not do,” posted Scharer.

“My whole family originated from the Philippines and thought I was coming back home to the motherland, to be loved and accepted with open arms!”

Scharer was coming off a campaign with T1 League team New Taipei CTBC DEA.
