T1: Heading’s Taichung arrests skid, continues woes of Tiongson’s Taoyuan

Taichung Wagor weathered an early Caelan Tiongson explosion before Jordan Heading took over late, taking a 101-74 win to snap its skid in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Sunday at National Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium.

Despite Tiongson putting up 19 points in the first half, the Leopards were behind 40-49 to end the first 24 minutes of action.

The Suns dropped 30 points in the third quarter to blow the game wide open and gain a 79-58 lead.

It was all Taichung in the final frame with Heading scoring nine of his 22 points during that span.

Heading shot 9-of-17 shooting from the field with four rebounds and two steals.

Taichung snapped their three-game slide to go up to 3-5 while dropping Taoyuan to a 1-6 slate.

Sani Sakakini tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks while Ting Shengju and Chen Chinghuan added 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Troy Williams was the other double-digit scorer for the Leopards, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds.

The two teams face off again on January 16 at Chung Yuan Christian University Gymnasium. Before that, Tiongson and Taoyuan will meet Jason Brickman and Kaohsiung on the 15th.
