T1: Heading, Taichung cruise past Tainan to remain at solo third

Jordan Heading provided the late buckets in Taichung Wagor’s 115-91 win over Tainan TSG in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Saturday at National Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium.

Heading fired eight of his 16 points in the final frame, helping the Suns turn an 83-76 lead into a lead that went to as high as 24 points late in the contest.

This was a pivotal win for Heading and Taichung as it raised their slate to 11-7 — two games behind second-running New Taipei and a full game ahead of Taiwan Beer.

Besides Heading, five others Suns players scored in double-figures.

Sani Sakakini got 26 points and 16 rebounds while Anthony Tucker tallied 18 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Julian Wright finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field while Ting Shengju and Chen Chinghuan chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Tainan, who fell to 3-13 in the standings, was led by Charles Garcia and Marcus Gilbert. The former got 24 points and seven rebounds while the latter added 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Up next for Heading and Taichung is another round with Jason Brickman and Kaohsiung tomorrow.

Last night, Brickman and Kaohsiung defeated Taoyuan, 106-100, at Chung Yuan Christian University Gymnasium.

Brickman tallied eight points, eight rebounds, and nine assists to steer the Aquas to a 13-5 slate.
