T1: Heading lifts Taichung to upset win over New Taipei

Jordan Heading nailed the big buckets, lifting Taichung past New Taipei, 99-92, in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Sunday at Xinzhuang Gymnasium.

Knotted at 75-all against CTBC DEA, Heading buried a huge triple with 9:30 remaining that triggered a 12-0 spurt for the Suns.

Though New Taipei cut the lead down to eight, 89-81, after a Prince Ibeh bucket, Heading scored on a drive followed by a Julian Wright conversion to score the upset win.

Heading dropped 23 points built on five treys with six rebounds and two steals, helping the Suns go up to an even 5-5 slate. The Suns are just one game behind Taiwan Beer in the standings for third.

Taichung also got back at New Taipei following their 85-95 loss last January 1.

Complementing Heading was Sani Sakakini, who had 23 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, five rebounds, and two blocks.

Wright also had 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals while Chen Chinghuan got 12 points.

New Taipei, who fell to 7-5, was led by Cleanthony Early, who tallied 31 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Mohammad Al Bachir Gadiaga got 20 points and seven rebounds while Wei Chiahao chipped in 13 points.

Heading and Taichung will next head to Kaohsiung to take on Jason Brickman and the Aquas on January 28.
