The 12-day break did wonders for Jason Brickman and Kaohsiung Familymart as they finally solved Jordan Heading and Taichung Wagor, taking an 87-71 win in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Saturday at Kaohsiung Arena.
Unlike their last two games, the Aquas had a strong first half, leading 48-34 and never looked back.
Kaohsiung did not falter, even when it had a double-digit lead for most of the second half. Free throws by Mindaugas Kupšas with under two minutes left in the game gave his side a game-high 85-64 lead.
Kupsas led Kaohsiung – who went up to 10-3 in the standings – with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Xavier Alexander added 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists while Yu Huanya chipped in 14 points built on four treys.
Brickman glued things together for the Aquas with nine assists, five points, four steals, and three rebounds.
Taichung saw its five-game winning streak snap to fall to 7-6 in the standings.
Sani Sakakini led the Suns with 24 points and 22 rebounds while partner-in-crime Jordan Heading got 16 points but shot just 6-of-16 from the field.
It was a bad shooting day for the Suns as they went just 8-of-33 from downtown.
The series between Kaohsiung and Taichung is now even at 2-2 with their next meeting happening on February 28 at the National Taiwan University of Sport Gymnasium.
Up next for Brickman and Kaohsiung is another familiar face in Caelan Tiongson as they face Taoyuan tomorrow still at home.
Heading and Taichung, meanwhile, squares off against Taiwan Beer on February 20 at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.
