Sedrick Barefield could not come up clutch in his Tainan TSG debut, suffering a heartbreaking 98-101 loss to New Taipei in the 2022-23 T1 League Season, Sunday at Xinzhuang Gymnasium.
Down 95-98 with 18 seconds left, Taylor Braun drained a trey to tie things up. However, Tseng Wenting answered right back with a second left to put the CTBC DEA back at the driver’s seat.
Barefield had no other choice but to throw a heave as time expired, giving him heartbreak in his debut.
Barefield, a loaned player by P.LEAGUE+ club Taipei Fubon, went scoreless on his debut.
Kristjan Krajina led the way for the 2-0 CTBC DEA with 32 points and 19 rebounds. Hsieh Yahsuan added 20 points built on six treys.
New Taipei also got support from Lee Hsuehlin (15 points) and Lin Pingsheng (10).
Former Alab import Sam Deguara led the Ghosthawks with 32 points and 19 rebounds while Braun added 20 points and nine boards.
Ku Mao Weichia scored 15 points off the bench as well.
The squads will once again face off on November 12, this time at Shao Tsung Gymnasium.
