Caelan Tiongson posted another monster line but it was not enough to arrest Taoyuan’s skid in the 2021-22 T1 League season, receiving a 113-132 beatdown at the hands of Tainan TSG, Saturday at Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science Shao Tsung Gymnasium.
Tiongson was once again solid, delivering 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting with 17 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block.
Leading 67-64 at the half, the Leopards offense suddenly crumbled in the third canto, putting up just 15 points while the Ghosthawks’ continued to be on full throttle, racking up 32 to gain a double-digit lead.
Tainan finished the game by having a 36-point quarter, putting up the highest points ever scored in the first season of the league so far.
Marcus Gilbert led the Ghosthawks with 41 points on 17-of-23 shooting from the field with 22 rebounds and eight assists.
Five other Tainan players scored in double-figures as the team shot a whopping 56.1-percent from the field.
Charles Garcia got 24 points and eight rebounds; Jordan Chatman had 19 points and nine rebounds; both Liu Jenhao and Negus Webster-Chan chipped in 13 points apiece; while Chang Weihsiang added 10 points.
Tainan, who also defeated Taoyuan, 83-114, six days ago, went up to 2-3 while dropping the Leopards to 1-5.
Troy Williams paced the Leopards with 38 points, going 14-of-29 from the field. Cheng Wei got 13 points while Du Yucheng and Tsai Yangming had 11 points apiece.
