Jordan Heading’s return to Taichung turned out to be a celebration.
Taichung Wagor scored its first-ever franchise win in the T1 League, stunning Taiwan Beer, 110-102, Saturday at Taiwan Sports Stadium.
Heading, a product of Morrison Academy in Taichung, returned home to a thunderous ovation when he checked in the opening frame. The 6-foot-4 combo guard ended up with eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
After a huge third quarter rally, Taichung entered the final frame up 79-71.
However, the Hero Bears went on a huge rally, cutting the lead down to four, 106-102, with 53 seconds left after a Tony Mitchell triple.
Heading though did not allow a comeback, scoring on an and-one to seal off Taiwan Beer.
Sani Sakakini led Taichung with 29 points and nine rebounds. Alonzo Gee got 19 points and six steals while Ting Shengju chipped in 15 points.
Taichung went up to 1-2 while dropping Taiwan Beer to 4-2.
The Hero Bears were led by Diamond Stone, who had 35 points and 15 rebounds. Mitchell added 27 points and eight rebounds, Chiang Yuan finished with 18 points, while Chou Pohsun grabbed 10 rebounds.
