Stefanie Berberabe delivered another record-setting performance as Tagaytay-Tol snapped a two-game skid with a 72-56 win over RK Hoops-Quezon City in the 2025 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League regular season presented by Akari on Wednesday at Montano Hall in Quezon City.
Berberabe flirted with another quadruple-double, finishing with a triple-double of 12 points, 11 rebounds, and a league-record 14 steals. She also had eight assists to lead the Patriots to a 3-6 record and move closer to the fourth seed.
“I love playing with this team,” said Berberabe after recording the league’s first triple-double. “Every time I get to step on the court, I just don’t take it for granted. I always want to give my all and never give up.”
Tagaytay-Tol built a commanding 38-23 halftime lead, but RK Hoops-Quezon City did not back down. Anna Escotido, Bernaly Aragon, and Maria Cayco sparked a 10-3 run to start the third quarter, trimming the deficit to just seven points, 33-40, with 4:36 remaining.
However, the Patriots quickly regained control. Justine Domingo and Berberabe steadied the ship and pushed the lead to 18 points at 58-40, a cushion they maintained to close out the game.
“In a way, happy kasi nanalo kami, pero siyempre ‘di kami satisfied sa win dahil ang goal namin is to play much, much better para sa mga upcoming games. Siyempre, dahil papaunta na tayo sa importanteng phase ng tournament eh,” said Tagaytay-Tol head coach Tito Reyes.
Domingo contributed 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Monique Del Carmen and Danica Pacia added eight points each.
Team captain Luisa San Juan and Claudine Santos chipped in seven points apiece, keeping Tagaytay-Tol’s bid for a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals alive in the tournament supported by Uratex, Black Mamba, Red Dynasty, Aktive Balls, and Pocari Sweat.
Tagaytay-Tol hopes to carry its momentum into its next matchup against San Juan-DN Steel in Pangasinan on October 5 at 6:00 PM. There, it aims to solidify its position for the fourth seed and secure the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
For RK Hoops-Quezon City, the loss marked its sixth consecutive defeat, leaving the team at the bottom with a 1-6 record. Buendia posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Natasha Alcantara and Escotido added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
RK Hoops-QC still has a slim chance of making the top four but must defeat Pangasinan-Solar Home on October 5 at 8:00 PM to keep that hope alive.
