Unbeaten Chef on a Diet-FEU gave Alpha Omega the boot, 25-17, 25-18, 25-12, to book its spot in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference at the Paco Arena, Friday.
The Tamaraws improved to 4-0 and are assured of entering the knockout quarters even if they drop their game against 3-1 Savouge RTU Basilan next Friday due to a massive lead in set ratio.
“Nakaplano talaga na kapag laban, laban. Ang number one ruling talaga namin, kung sino yung makakaharap namin, dapat laban lang nang laban. Walang relax,” said FEU head coach Eddieson Orcullo as they finished the game in just 65 minutes.
After easily taking the first two sets, the Tamaraws’ mindset never wavered, cruising to an 18-5 start in the third frame en route to the 25-12 clincher.
Chad Absin, a middle blocker transferee from Ateneo, led FEU with nine points in less than two sets played while Jomel Codilla and Jelord Talisayan produced seven points each.
Alpha Omega also helped the Tamaraws’ cause by committing 30 errors.
France Racaza and John Diwa had seven and six points, respectively, in the losing cause.
The Elite Spikers, who slipped to 1-3, will finish their campaign against playoff-hopeful PGJC-Navy on Wednesday.
