Is a Rachel Daquis-Petron reunion in the works?
After reports surfaced that RC Cola and the Philippine Army will not field a team for the 2017 Philippine Superliga Season, the team’s longtime civilian player Rachel Daquis was left in limbo.
But according to a source who requested anonymity, the 29-year-old open hitter is nearing an agreement with her former team Petron Blaze Spikers to play for one season.
“She considered a few offers but it seems she’s most likely going back to Petron,” said the source.
The source closely monitoring the situation added that Daquis initially took offers from two other PSL teams and a Philippine V-League squad before narrowing her options.
This will be a reunion between the two parties as Daquis played with Petron back in the 2015 season of the league. The open hitter took home the MVP tiara during Petron’s sweep of the All-Filipino Conference.
She last played for Army, helping steer the proud team to a crown, a bronze, and a fourth place finish. She was also part of the Magnificent Seven that played during the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.
