SOURCE: Former Batang Gilas Navarro leaves La Salle, planning return to Baste

Former Batang Gilas standout Lorenzo Navarro has left the loaded backcourt of the De La Salle University Green Archers Thursday evening according to Tiebreaker Times sources.

Navarro, a blue-chip recruit last season from the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Staglets, played spot minutes with the Taft Avenue-based squad in their UAAP Season 78 campaign under former head coach Juno Sauler. In his rookie season, the 5’8 guard averaged 2.1 points per game in 7.9 minutes of game time. He played in ten elimination round games for the Green Archers.

However, with incoming rookies Ricci Rivero from La Salle Greenhills and Aljun Melecio from De La Salle-Zobel coming into the fold and guards Thomas Torres, Kib Montalbo, Andrei Caracut, and Jollo Go returning, the Archers’ guard rotation is as tight as ever.

According to a source closely monitoring the situation, Navarro politely declined an offer to be relegated to the school’s returning Team B squad for the time being. Instead, the 18 year old floor general is planning to return to his alma matter, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, the source added.

San Sebastian officials though have yet to receive his enrollment papers as of publishing.

If this pushes through, Navarro will have to sit out one season before being eligible to play for the Golden Stags in their NCAA Season 93 campaign.
