SLR’s Demontano-Estoquia sets up PSL Beach Volley showdown with Polidario-Magdato

Sta. Lucia’s DM Demontano and Jackie Estoquia exacted revenge in the best way possible.

The Lady Realtors outlasted tournament foils Abanse Negrense B’s Jennifer Cosas and Gelimae Villanueva, 21-18, 16-21, 15-9, to book their finals ticket in the 2021 Gatorade-PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, Sunday at Subic Tennis Court.

Cosas and Villanueva, who defeated the same Sta. Lucia duo 6-21, 21-14, 15-11 last Friday, was looking for a brace after extending the match to a decider. However, Estoquia made sure that they will not be foiled anew, nailing the last three points to set-up a showdown with Abanse Negrense A’s Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato.

“Ang nararamdaman ko nung napa-third set kami… Sinabi ko kay DM, ‘Relax lang! Huwag masyadong mag-rush’,” recalled an exhausted Estoquia.

“Palagi namin sinasabi na play with emotion at maglabas talaga ng angas sa loob ng court kaya sumigla yung laro namin at nakuha namin.”

Earlier, Polidario and Magdato continued their dominant outing, dropping the Sta. Lucia duo of Jonah Sabete and Bang Pineda to the bronze medal match, 21-18, 21-12.

“Marami pa kaming ibibigay so lahat ng best namin sa performance namun pagdating ng championship game,” vowed Magdato.

Demontano and Estoquia are looking to finally hoist the crown after finishing in second place in 2018 and 2019.

In other games, F2 Logistics faces United Auctioneers in the fifth place game while winless teams Toby’s Sports and Kennedy Solar Energy-Petro Gazz will figure in the seventh place tilt.
