SJ Belangel commits to Ateneo

It did not take long for SJ Belangel to choose where he will go to college.

Belangel, a 6-foot guard, has decided to stay home and join defending UAAP Men’s Basketball champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.

The commitment was first reported by Norman Riego of ABS-CBN Sports, and confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by Blue Eagles team manager Epok Quimpo, Thursday afternoon.

The top senior and second-best floor general in the Chooks-to-Go/National Basketbal Training Center national rankings, Belangel was a pivotal piece in the championship drive of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets in the Juniors Division.

The 18-year-old posted norms of 16.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.8 steals in his final year.

He joins a stacked Ateneo backcourt that already includes 23 for 2023 cadet Matt Nieto, the returning Adrian Wong, Tyler Tio, Jolo Mendoza, and Gian Mamuyac.
