Matt Aquino and Shinshu’s quarterfinal game in the 97th Emperor’s Cup will have to wait.
The Japan Basketball Association has postponed Shinshu’s game against Ryukyu and Tokyo’s tilt versus Kawasaki due to health and safety protocols.
A Golden Kings player had tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, Alvark’s Sebastian Saiz also yielded a positive result.
Shinshu would have faced Ryukyu at Okinawa Arena for the right to face Chiba in the semifinals of the All-Japan tournament on February 9.
Meanwhile, the B.League has put the entire San-En and Ibaraki under close monitoring after facing Ryukyu and Tokyo, respectively, last weekend.
Thirdy Ravena and the NeoPhoenix will face Hokkaido this weekend. On the other hand, Javi Gomez de Liaño and the Robots square off against Ray Parks and Nagoya.
Also being monitored are both Mikawa and Kyoto. With this, the Seahorses’ games against Kiefer Ravena and Shiga this weekend are also in danger of being postponed.
Meanwhile, Kobe Paras and Niigata will await the results of their weekend opponent’s Osaka as two Evessa players have tested positive for COVID-19 as well.
