Sheena Toring brings winning mentality to PVL Draft

Already planning to join the Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft last year, Sheena Toring ultimately set those plans aside to help National University pursue back-to-back titles in the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

Now that she has fulfilled that mission, Toring is ready to take the next step in her volleyball journey — entering the PVL Rookie Draft.

“Since last year pa, actually, gusto ko lang mag-grow, but ‘yun nga, goal namin na back-to-back.

Toring shared that ever since she started playing volleyball, she has dedicated her life to reaching this milestone — turning her long-time dream of playing in the PVL into a reality.

With her dream now within reach, the 24-year-old NU stalwart vowed to give her all and make the most out of every opportunity on the professional stage.

So ayun lang, tiyaga lang tsaka back to zero nga po ako.”

After spending nearly her entire volleyball career under the NU system, Toring admitted that she’s both nervous and excited to start fresh and experience a new environment with different coaches and teammates.

“Actually kinakabahan nga ako. Actually, nung nagtingin-tingin sa ibang PVL teams, dun ko na-realize na parang iba talaga ‘pag ibang coaches, ibang teammates, so sa akin, excited din naman po ‘ko,” she shared.

Having captured championships at both the high school and college levels in the UAAP, Toring believes she can carry that winning mentality into the professional ranks.

“Yung championship experience ko from high school to college.
