After not getting a chance to enter the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft, Sedrick Barefield has decided to play elsewhere in the meantime.
The 6-foot-2 Filipino-American floor general has signed a one-year deal with P.League+’s Taipei Fubon.
The Braves made the announcement on Thursday.
Barefield, 25, was an undrafted prospect in the 2019 NBA Draft.
He played for Oklahoma City in the G League back in 2019 before moving to Lithuania’s Nevėžis and, later on, Greece’s Apollon.
He had another stint with the Blue early this year.
Barefield was suppose to enter the 2022 PBA Draft but a delay in the arrival of his Philippine passport resulted in him not submitting it to the league before the mandated deadline.
The Braves are the defending champions of P.League+.
He joins Ricci Rivero (P.League’s Taoyuan) and Jason Brickman (T1’s Kaohsiung Aquas) as the Filipino imports in Taiwan.
Barefield is also the second basketball player to get an overseas contract thanks to Fil-Am Nation Select after Ethan Alvano, who signed with KBL’s Wonju.
