The Philippines has matched its gold total from last year’s Southeast Asian Games.
Alvin Lobreguito dominated the three-man field in the 32nd SEA Games’ -57kg freestyle wrestling event en route to gold on Tuesday at Chroy Changvar Convention Center.
Lobreguito defeated Vietnam’s Phu Khac Huy in the virtual gold medal match, 3-1, to give the Philippines gold no. 52.
Huy defeated Lobreguito in last year’s final. He also placed second in the games held in Pampanga.
Also competing in the event is Thailand’s Nattawut Kaewkhuanchum, who the 31-year-old defeated earlier.
This is the third gold for the Wrestling Association of the Philippines. Jason Balabal took down the greco-roman 87kg division, while Tina Vergara won gold in freestyle 65kg.
