SEA Games: PH quartet take beach volley bronze

The Philippine men’s national beach volleyball team secured the country’s only volleyball medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday morning.

The quartet of Ran Abdilla, Jaron Requinton, Jude Garcia, and James Buytrago defeated Vietnam 2-0, earning another bronze finish for men’s beach volleyball.

Abdilla and Requinton persevered through a tight encounter against Lam Toi Nguyen and Quang Vu Tran, winning 21-18, 29-31, 17-15 to give the Philippines a 1-0 advantage in the series.

Garcia and Buytrago then sealed the deal, dominating Van Nha Nguyen and Van Thanh Nguyen with a score of 21-14, 21-15.

With this victory, the Philippines secured its third consecutive bronze medal in the biennial meet.

Unfortunately, the women’s side failed to replicate this feat as they were eliminated early in the group stage, winning only one of their three group stage outings.
