The Philippine national obstacle course race team has assured the country of four more medals in the ongoing 32nd Southeast Asian Games after topping both the men’s and women’s individual 100 meters elimination rounds on Wednesday at the OCIC Wedding Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Jaymark Rodelas and Popoy Pascua took a 1-2 finish in the men’s side with times of 25.09 and 26.18 seconds, respectively, to move into the four-man final scheduled on Saturday.
The women’s side also saw Precious Cabuya and Kaizen dela Serna post a similar 1-2 performance with times of 33.12 and 34.86, respectively, to move on to the medal round, also on Saturday.
The Nationals dominated the previous staging of the OCR in the Games back in 2019, sweeping all six gold medals at stake, including the two 100-meter races.
Pascua and Rochelle Suarez captured the men’s and women’s titles, respectively. The Philippines topped the medal tally in the 2019 edition with six gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.
There are four OCR events in these Cambodia Games, with men’s and women’s team relays joining the individual events.
