The Team Lakay star dominated Malaysia’s Jihin Radzuan, 3-0, in the semifinals of the women’s low kick minus-60 kg event in the 31st Southeast Asian Games kickboxing tournament to move into the gold medal match, Wednesday at the Bac Ninh Gymnasium in Bac Ninh, Vietnam.
The two had faced each other in the ONE Championship cage last February 16, 2019 with Iniong eking out a split decision win.
Iniong will face Waraporn Jiataeng of Thailand in the gold medal match, looking to seal her second SEAG title.
Gretzel Cordero also moved on into the battle for gold after she won over Thailand’s Surachada Namrak, 2-1, in women’s full contact minus-56 kg in the semifinals. She will take on Indonesia’s Diandra Ariesta Pieter in the championship contest.
Honorio Banario suffered a shock exit in the men’s low kick under-71 kg semifinals against Lvay Chhoeung of Cambodia, 0-3.
Emmanuel Cantores, likewise, lost a tough one to Vietnam’s Huy Nguyen Quang, 0-3, men’s low kick minus-60 kg in the semifinals.
Banario and Cantores ended their SEA Games stints with bronzes.
