SEA Games: Gretel de Paz takes low kick gold as Gina Iniong settles for silver in kick light

Gretel De Paz showcased her superiority over Indonesian Susanti Ndapataka, reclaiming a Southeast Asian Games gold in the women’s low kick under-56 kg division at the 32nd edition of the kickboxing competitions.

The event took place on Tuesday at Elephant Hall 1 of the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

This victory marks the country’s second gold in kickboxing, following Jean Claude Saclag’s successful title defense on Monday, solidifying the Philippines’ golden haul at 58.

In the semifinals, De Paz overcame the challenge posed by hometown contender Vy Sreychhay, securing her spot in the finals.

She seized the opportunity to redeem herself after last year’s loss in the full-contact event against another Indonesian, Diandra Pieter.

This achievement serves as a bounce-back for the squad, particularly after Gina Iniong suffered a stunning defeat in the final of the women’s kick light under-55 kg event against Pieter.
