The Philippines remains kings of Southeast Asian triathlon.
Fer Casares and Kim Remolino stamped the national triathlon team’s class in yet another 1-2 finish in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in men’s triathlon in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Casares, 26, proved to be a very able successor to compatriot John Leerams “Rambo” Chicano, topping the men’s race in 1:56.57.
Remolino, 22, retained the silver medal he won in the 2019 Philippine SEA Games by clocking 3:59.16.
This is the fourth straight gold for the Philippines, and the third consecutive time the Filipino male triathletes finish in the top two.
Caseres took over the reins from John Chicano, who topped the race in 2019 here in the Philippines
The Fil-Spanish Casares finished the tough 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike, and 10-km run race, while Remolino once again finished second for his second straight silver.
