Another Team Lakay stalwart secured the Philippines a medal in the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games.
Honorio Banario booked his place in the semifinals of the men’s low kick minus-71 kg event after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Indonesia’s Yermias Yohanes Tanoi, Monday at the Bac Ninh Multipurpose Stadium in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Emmanuel Cantores added another sure medal for the country, taking down Ain Kamarrudin, 3-0, in the men’s low kick minus-60 kg.
Daryl Chulipas, though, missed on the sweep for the day as he lost to Indonesia’s Salmri Stendra Pattisamallo, 0-3, in the men’s full contact minus-51 kg.
Meanwhile, the Philippine men’s national beach handball team took its third win of the tournament after a hard-fought win against Thailand, 2-1, in a penalty shootout.
The win also assured the nationals at least a silver, a step higher than the bronze medal finish it had in the 2019 edition.
The men’s beach handball team is composed of Jacob Baccay, Vincent Dubouzet, Andrew Harris, Manuel Lasangue, Jamael Pangandaman, Michael Pasco, Joshua Tabuzo, Josef Valdez, Dhane Varela, and Darydush Zandi.
