St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) and defending champion La Consolacion College Manila (LCCM) earned contrasting victories ahead of their much-anticipated showdown in the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Season 16 Seniors Basketball Tournament.
The Pikemen improved to a perfect 3-0 record by handing the previously unbeaten Manila Tytana Colleges Titans a 67-52 loss.
Meanwhile, the Blue Royals narrowly escaped with a 75-71 victory over the PATTS Seahorses, marking their second consecutive win on Wednesday at the LCCM Gym.
These two unbeaten teams will face off on Saturday at Trinity University of Asia.
Philippine Women’s University also picked up its second straight win by defeating ALIAC, 53-42.
Edward Daquioag led SDCA with 17 points, while Ibryhim Capulong added 14 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting.
LCCM, backed by sponsors Demigod, Pureblends, Uratex, A-Game, and Infinite Basketball, got a team-high 15 points from Bernon Valencia.
Michael Urmeneta and Christian Antonio each contributed 12 points for Coach Raymond Valenzona’s Blue Royals.
Jacob Oriza led the scoring effort for the Patriots, also part of the UCAL.
In other seniors’ action, the ICCT Colleges Blue Dragons secured their second straight win by routing the UA&P Dragons, 66-49.
Melvin Katipunan filled the stat sheet with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, bringing ICCT’s record to 2-1.
It was a double celebration for LCCM, as their junior team also emerged victorious, defeating ALIAC 56-53, with Marcus Saad contributing 15 points.
Mark Morada led all scorers with a game-high 29 points for PATTS, which fell to 0-2.
