Scottie Thompson teases and tests WB ST3 in PBA Finals

The World Balance ST3 may be upon us.

Scottie Thompson’s third signature shoe with the Filipino sports brand could hit the shelves soon after the former PBA MVP himself confirmed that he has been wearing as much in the ongoing Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals.

The Barangay Ginebra star has been rocking an all-black pair of the brand new model since Game 2 of their best-of-seven title series against TNT, although he remains tight-lipped as to when it will be available in the market.

Very little is known as well regarding the sneaker’s features. But his wear-test sample appears to show that the ST3 is veering away from the lateral swaybar, which was generally viewed as the main selling point of its predecessors.

For those unfamiliar, the lateral swaybar, which is made out of TPU material, cradles the foot to greatly reduce the chance of ankle roll. The said tech underwent a slight alteration for the ST2 as a thicker one was utilized.

Now, what looks like a TPU shank plate can be seen in the midfoot instead, which extends to the lateral side of the shoe. It is shaped like the iconic “W” logo of World Balance in an apparent aim for more stability and lockdown.

Thompson’s first two shoes featured a molded heel counter and the S-Ride cushioning setup — a specially compounded lightweight midsole — although it remains to be seen if those elements would be present in the ST3.

Still, the shoe appears to sport a silhouette tad similar to the previous models.

Aside from the release information, yet to be determined is the price tag of the ST3. It could be remembered that the ST2, released in November of last year, was priced by P500 more than the ST1 as it retailed for P3,999.
