Scottie Thompson leads 2018 PBA All-Star voting

The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s workhorse Scottie Thompson has emerged as the top-vote winner in the 2018 PBA All-Star voting, as per the initial tally released by the league, Sunday through their website.

The 6-foot-1 guard has amassed 17,851 votes, and is now also on top of the Mindanao All-Stars. The league has adapted last year’s format, where teams will be formed according to their roots: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Reigning four-time Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo, the leader in the Visayas All-Stars, comes in second with 17,498 votes. Thompson’s fellow Mindanaoan, Magnolia Hotshots’ Mark Barroca, is at third with 17,377.

Coming in at the fourth spot is former two-time league MVP and Negrense star James Yap with 17,006 votes. Super rookie Kiefer Ravena, who traces his roots to Ilo-ilo, is surprisingly ranked fifth with 14,550 votes.

Rounding out the Top 10 vote-geters are Mindanao All-Stars’ Jio Jalalon (14,368), PJ Simon (13,596), and Mac Belo (12,192); Luzon All-Stars’ Japeth Aguilar (11,692); and Visayas All-Stars’ Greg Slaughter (11,665).

The All-Star teams will face Chooks-to-Go Gilas Pilipinas in the week-long festivities, which will take place from May 23 to 27.
