Santiago-Manabat to reunite with Jaja in Foton

Dindin Santiago-Manabat will make her return to the Philippine Superliga, but with a different club team.

The 22-year-old middle blocker, just three months after giving birth, is included in the Foton Tornadoes the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Santiago-Manabat was the first overall pick in the 2014 PSL Draft for the Petron Blaze Spikers. She helped lead the Blaze Spikers to two championships, the 2014 Grand Prix and the 2015 All Filipino Championship. Ironically, she last played her competitive game against the Foton Tornadoes that saw the dethroning of Petron after three grueling games.

In the release, Santiago-Manabat was impressed with the Cinderella run of the franchise.

“Since Foton joined the PSL, their line-up has been gaining notice for its Cinderella story-like rise. The group started the season placing on the lower half yet ended with a championship,” she stated.

“That’s what I admire the most and I’m grateful to Foton because they chose me to be part of their story.”

The 6’2″ middle blocker will form a formidable twin tower frontline with Jaja Santiago.

“It’s been a while since Jaja and I played together for one team. I’m excited to be able to show off our best shots together,” the statement concluded.

In the PSL, the former Queen Bulldog was named as the 2nd best middle blocker during the 2014 Grand Prix and was crowned as the best middle blocker during the 2015 All Filipino Conference.
