San Juan-Go for Gold deals Mindoro 46-point rout, locks top seed in MPBL North


San Juan-Go for Gold secured the top spot in the North after decimating Mindoro-JAC Liner, 114-68, Saturday in the 2019-20 Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Season at the Bahayang Pag-Asa Gym in Valenzuela.

John Wilson registered 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists, as the Knights ended eliminations at 26-4.

Larry Rodriguez added 13 points and nine boards. Joseph Ubalde chipped in 12 markers and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Andoy Estrella and Jhonard Clarito got 11 points apiece.

“Hindi lang kami tumingin sa standings. Ginawa lang namin ‘yung sistema namin, kaya kami nandito sa number one spot,” said San Juan coach Randy Alcantara.

The Knights zoomed to a 37-15 first quarter and never looked back, dominating Mindoro throughout the game. Orlan Wamar’s booming triple in the waning seconds of the match gave San Juan its biggest lead of the game at 46.

The Knights were scorching all game long, shooting 53.4 percent from the field while holding Mindoro to just 30.6 percent.

Rodel Vaygan tallied 17 points on 16 shots alongside eight rebounds.

The Tamaraws dropped to 9-20.
