Surprise leader San Juan faces its toughest challenge yet in the 2025 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) Invitational as it takes on a determined Pilipinas Aguilas squad on Wednesday at Enderun Colleges Gym in Taguig.

The Lady Knights, led by young head coach CJ Tolentino, have been off to a blazing start in the tournament, which is backed by Manny Pacquiao, Senator Francis Tolentino, and the MPBL Partylist.

San Juan has raced to a 2-0 record with dominant wins over the Solar Home Suns (75-39) on opening day and the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws (44-37) last Sunday.

Anchoring their defense is former National University standout and Cameroonian student-athlete Annick Edimo Tiky, making San Juan the league’s top defensive team in this league also supported by sponsors Uratex, Discovery Suites, Red Dynasty, Gotobox, Gerry’s Grill, Prettiest, Team Graphitee, Evo Performance Helmets, Ryzen Helmets, Katinko, Dorayd, Sogo Hotel, Global Bosny Manufacturing, and Bavin.

Providing offensive firepower are former Ateneo guard LJ Miranda, former UST playmaker Jhenn Angeles, and former UP winger Rei Sanchez.

San Juan will be up against a Pilipinas Aguilas team eager to bounce back after a tough 72-65 loss to Philippine Navy.

Meanwhile, in the nightcap at 8:00 PM, the Kalos PH and Go for Gold-backed Lady Sailors look to maintain their perfect 3-0 record as they face Discovery Perlas — one of the tournament favorites.

In the second game at 6:00 PM, the New Zealand-Bluefire Valkyries aim to recover from their 66-55 loss to the Aguilas last Wednesday as they go up against the struggling PSP Lady Gymers.
