San Beda College reclaimed the general championship in the seniors division by edging back-to-back titlist College of Saint Benilde in one of the closest race in league history.
The Lions amassed 632.5 points, barely beating the Blazers, general champions the last two seasons, by a mere five-point lead to clinch its fourth overall crown, all coming in the last six seasons.
San Beda raked in most of its points by topping men’s and women’s swimming, men’s taekwondo, women’s table tennis, lawn tennis and soft tennis and finishing second in basketball, women’s taekwondo, men’s table tennis, football, and women’s beach volley.
“San Beda is proud of what our athletes have done,” said Jose Mari Lacson, San Beda’s NCAA Management Committee representative.
CSB won in women’s taekwondo, badminton, men’s table tennis, and women’s volleyball while winding up runner up in men’s and women’s swimming, women’s table tennis and lawn tennis.
Interestingly, Saint Benilde’s worst finish in a sport came in basketball after it ended up eighth.
Arellano University duplicated its third place finish last year by garnering 497.3 points, thanks to triumphs in football, chess and track and field.
Rounding up the top 10 were Lyceum of the Philippines University (376), University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (365), Colegio de San Juan de Letran (347.8), Mapua Institute of Technology (338.3), Emilio Aguinaldo College (332.5), San Sebastian College-Recoletos (320.5) and Jose Rizal University (163.8).
