RSG PH failed to sustain its hot start, falling to reigning MPL Indonesia champion ONIC Esports, 1-2, in the quarterfinals of the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational, Friday night.
ONIC Esports clobbered RSG PH as early as the get-go of Game Three. They away with a 17-6 win in 16 minutes and seven seconds to eliminate the Filipino squad from the tourney.
Drian took charge in the assault, finishing with six kills and seven assists against just one death on his Natan for ONIC Esports.
With the win, ONIC PH advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after bowing out of the first round in the previous edition a year ago.
Jhonard “Demonkite” Caranto (Paquito) showed nerves of steel in the opener. He then secured the crucial Lord that powered RSG PH’s Game One win over the MPL Indonesia titlist.
After securing the Lord, the Filipinos punished the Indonesians – completing a five-man wipe as Kenneth “Kenji” Villa (Uranus) and Eman “Emann” Sangco (Natan) went for the GG push.
Emann finished with three kills, a death, and nine assists in the 13-10 Game One win.
ONIC Esports then bounced back in Game Two, putting on a dominant showing against RSG PH to even the series at 1-all.
Meanwhile, Sanz’s Paquito led the stomp with five kills and an assist in the 12:58-minute match.
ONIC Esports also shackled Emann’s Brody in the laning phase which caused a plethora of problems for the side of RSG PH. Kenji’s Ruby gave his team a chance to mount a comeback but it was not enough as ONIC ran away with the 7-4 Game Two win.
The top Indonesian squad will face defending MPLI champion Alter Ego in the semifinals tomorrow, Saturday.
