Romeo, Abueva slapped with 25k fines

Terrence Romeo received a light slap while Calvin Abueva was not able avoid a fine

The PBA Commissioner’s Office announced Friday afternoon that both Romeo and Abueva were fined PHP 25,000.00 each.

Romeo, 25, was called for a flagrant foul penalty 2 during Globalport’s 85-96 loss to Ginebra in the quarterfinals.

With 3:28 left to play, Romeo and LA Tenorio were boxing out each other underneath for the rebound, leading to both of them being tangled. Romeo did not seem to like Tenorio’s hard contact and gave out a swinging backfist to the latter’s rib.

On the other hand, Abueva, 29, incurred his fine for “foisting a ‘stickum’ sign towards the direction of the Technical Committee and for slamming a chair near the Technical Committee table.” The incident occurred during Alaska’s 106-107 win-or-go-home loss to Globalport.

Both Globalport and Alaska have been eliminated in the Commissioner’s Cup.
