Robert Bolick has not really pondered upon the future yet even if his current contract with NorthPort is set to expire very soon.
For now, the young star’s sights are set on spending his honeymoon with his wife Cassandra as the Batang Pier saw the end of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign after being swept by Barangay Ginebra in the quarterfinals, Saturday.
“‘Di pa ‘ko naka-focus dun,” he said moments after their 99-93 Game 2 defeat at the Philsports Arena.
“Focus muna sa honeymoon, sa asawa ko.”
Bolick will see his present deal end on January 31. It was the same pact he signed during the 2021-22 Governors’ Cup last February — negotiations of which lasted for days that inevitably caused him to miss a few games.
The ongoing conference will end in early January next year. The season-ending tilt is expected to commence just days later as the league adjusted its schedule to give way to Gilas Pilipinas’ buildup for the SEA Games.
So, it remains to be seen how the looming discussions between the 27-year-old and the Batang Pier will pan out, given the aforementioned precedence.
Also in consideration, of course, are the talks of Bolick drawing interest from teams abroad in what has become a recurring trend in the local cage scene.
Then again, Bolick has not really given the future much thought as he is just coming off yet another early playoff exit.
Still, he holds his head up high, standing proud of NorthPort reaching the quarterfinals despite its struggles during the elimination round.
“Okay naman kami, at least nakapag-quarters kami,” said Bolick.
“Magaling ‘yung Ginebra itong conference na ‘to. Bawi na lang kami next year.”
