Ria Nabalan torches Blackwater as Ever Bilena rules anew

Ever Bilena repeated over rivals Blackwater to win, 22-20 (7:16), in Leg 2 of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 MelMac Cup, Friday.

Ria Nabalan delivered the goods for Ever Bilena as she rained down five deuces to end up with 10 points in this tournament also presented by Gold’s Gym and Coca-Cola.

More importantly, the sharpshooter gave her side the game-winner from the left corner with 2:44 remaining and get the P20,000 incentive.

“Malaking bagay sa amin ito kasi majority ng top three dito nasa Gilas din para sa SEA Games,” said Afril Bernardino, who played alongside Nabalan and Tina Deacon.

Janine Pontejos carried Blackwater’s offense with 14 points coming from seven two-pointers, but was not enough.

It was another sour defeat for Pontejos, Eunique Chan, and Chack Cabinbin as they have yet to hack out a leg so far.

Careline bagged third place.

In the side event, Big Boss Cement Porac’s Ryan Monteclaro swished four out of five balls to be hailed as the winner of the Chooks-to-Go Harissa Roast Two-Point Shootout.

Leg Three of the invitational takes place on Saturday, October 26 at the same venue.
