After six years, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and Raymond Almazan are set to part ways.
According to a report from the Manila Times, Rain or Shine will ship Almazan to the Meralco Bolts.
“Almazan is no longer with us,” Rain or Shine team governor Mert Mondragon told Manila Times. “We just signed a trade with Meralco for two first round picks – 2020 and 2021. We just submitted this to the PBA office last Friday.”
The report added that Meralco will not give up any players in the trade.
The 6-foot-7 big man out of Colegio de San Juan de Letran only played in six games last conference. He posted norms of 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.17 blocks per game.
Last October, Almazan figured in a disagreement with head coach Caloy Garcia, resulting in him going AWOL.
He returned to start the Philippine Cup, but only played in six games due to a nagging ankle injury.
Almazan missed the entire seven-game semifinals series between Magnolia and Rain or Shine that saw the Elasto Painters fall in Game 7.
The trade papers are still under review by the league.
