Former ONE Strawweight World Title contender Rene “The Challenger” Catalan looks to settle an old score in his return to the ONE Championship Circle.
Catalan takes on former ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex “Little Rock” Silva on the previously taped ONE: NextGen III. The bout airs on Friday, 26 November, from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
It’s a rematch of their clash eight years ago, where Silva handed then-debuting Catalan a first-round submission loss. Now, fans can expect a hungrier “Challenger” in the rematch.
“I’m inspired. There’s a fire in my heart, and I’m eager to bounce back,” Catalan said.
Catalan, who recently lost to no. 2-ranked Bokang “Little Giant” Masunyane, has been itching to get back to winning ways. And he believes he has much more to give in the Circle.
The last time Catalan lost two-straight bouts, he bounced back by racking up six consecutive wins. That gave him a shot at ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio – though he came up short.
Now he hopes to get another run at the World Title, but he has to beat his old tormentor first. It won’t be easy, though, as Silva is fresh off a dominant win over Miao Li Tao.
In the main event of the evening, Team Lakay’s Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang battles Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks in another highly anticipated strawweight bout.
Over in ONE Super Series, former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov faces Pongsiri PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym in a three-round Muay Thai bout.
