Rene Catalan submitted by Alex Silva at ONE: NextGen

Rene Catalan was outgrappled by Alex Silva in a technical contest, tapping to Alex Silva in the first round by way of an armbar during ONE: NextGen III which was aired on Friday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The 42-year-old Catalan went into Silva’s game immediately, taking the Brazilian Jiujitsu black belter down early.

The former ONE world champion quickly rolled Catalan, attempting a full mount before settling for side control.

Silva completely had his way with the wushu artist, even gaining north-south position.

Though Catalan was able to recover and gain side control, Silva was able to get Catalan inside his guard.

From there, Catalan attempted a hammerfist but got caught with an armbar resulting to a tapout just 3:35 into the bout.

Catalan lost his third straight bout, falling to 6-5, while Silva rose to 11-6.
