Remy Martin had an efficient outing in Kansas’ 96-83 wire-to-wire win over Iona in the consolation final of the ESPN Events Invitational, Monday morning (Manila time) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
The Filipino-American guard had 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field with five assists, three rebounds, and a steal.
This was the first meeting between Kansas head coach Bill Self and Iona head coach Rick Pitino. And it was Self’s Jayhawks that came out strong, leading 46-31 at the half.
The game never got closer than 10 points.
Christian Braun led the way for Kansas, finishing with a season-high 18 points, a game-high seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Ochai Agbaji got 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting with five rebounds while David McCormack added 13 points.
With the win, Kansas went up to 5-1.
Tyson Jolly and Ryan Myers paced the 6-2 Gales with 14 points each.
Kansas will play next at Saint John’s in the Big East-Big 12 Challenge on Saturday (Manila time).
