Ray Parks vehemently denied the words he allegedly told Calvin Abueva during a talk thay had last month when the latter entered the PBA bubble after a 16-month ban.
“Never in my life did I say that, ‘It’s okay, keep up what you’re doing. I wish you’re gonna come back soon’,” said Parks in an Instagram story.
Abueva said in an interview with Sports Page that he and Parks had a brief talk in a chance encounter inside Quest Hotel.
The 32-year-old shared that he apologized to the 27-year-old Filipino-American.
“Nagkita kami at nabanggit ko na, ‘Hey bro! Sorry for the last few years that happened’,” Abueva bared.
“Sabi niya, ‘It’s okay. Keep it up with what you are doing. Wish you can come back soon.’ ‘Thank you bro’, sabi ko.”
Last May 31, 2019, Abueva made lewd gestures towards Parks’ girlfriend Maika Rivera during a game between Phoenix and Blackwater. This incident was part of the league’s decision to ban Abueva for 16 months.
Parks though said that he is ‘not mad’ about the comeback.
Parks is averaging 22.57 points and 7.29 rebounds for TNT while Abueva is norming 14.5 points, 10.25 rebounds, and 6.75 assists per game for Phoenix.
