Ray Allen Torres commits to Adamson

Adamson University got one of the premier scorers in the boys’ division of the UAAP.

University of the Philippines Integrated School standout Ray Allen Torres has committed to joining the Soaring Falcons.

The 6-foot guard confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.

“Sa Adamson ko po kasi nakikita na made-develop ‘yung growth ko as a player and ang daming magagaling po na guards,” he said, citing the likes of Jerom Lastimosa. “So talagang magiging challenge ka everyday.”

It also helped that he will be under the tutelage of Nash Racela.

“Sabi rin po ni Coach Nash na long term po plano nila sa akin. And kilala naman natin si Coach Nash and yung coaching staff po niya,” he continued.

“Mahuhusay po sila na mentor and sobrang daming experience po nila both on and off the court.”

Torres, 20, was the leading scorer during UAAP Season 82, norming 21.21 points on 34.83-percent shooting from the field. He also registered 8.07 rebounds and 2.43 assists per game.

He joins the likes of Flever Dignadice, Matty Erolon, Joshua Barcelona, Joaquin Jaymalin, Jhon Calisay, and RV Yanes as some of the new recruits of Adamson.

Torres will still have a few months before making his seniors team debut as he is still currently in Grade 12.

But come the UAAP Season 85 tournament, the young gun is looking to grow alongside his new team. More importantly, he plans on learning the Adamson culture.

“Expectations? Wala naman po masyado pero gusto ko lang po is to be stronger and wiser each and every year, mag-improve and develop yung skills ko and makatulong sa team,” he said.

“Bilang isang student, syempre since bagong school, bagong environment so nandun yung excitement and alam ko naman po na masaya maging studyante sa Adamson.”

Yes, he is looking forward to become a Klasmeyt.
