Ramon “The Bicolano” Gonzales has licked his wounds. Now the Filipino will return to action at ONE Championship’s first show for 2020.
Gonzales battles Elipitua “The Magician” Siregar of Indonesia in ONE: A New Tomorrow on January 10 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
It was not too long ago that he saw his three-match win streak snapped by the “Wolf Of The Grasslands” Hexigetu at ONE: Age of Dragons in Beijing, China.
Eager to get back to the win column, the 32-year-old jumped at the chance to compete on ONE’s first show of the new year.
“I really want to bounce back quickly for all my supporters and everyone who never stopped believing in me,” Gonzales said.
The Filipino Karateka admitted to struggling with his weight in his match against Hexigetu, which was clear in the way Chinese athlete rolled over him from start to finish.
But the loss does not define Gonzales, and he promises to show that in Bangkok.
“I promise to always be at my best moving forward, to show that I am always improving in all facets of the game.”
In the main event of the same card, ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon takes on Jonathan “The General” Haggerty in a rematch of their clash last August.
Rodtang came away with a convincing unanimous decision win in front of a sold-out Mall Of Asia Arena crowd at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES. Now, he wants nothing more than to repeat that feat in front of his compatriots.
