Characteristically, Ramil De Jesus opted to avoid media days after the announcement of his resignation from the Philippine Women’s Volleyball National Team.
Several members of the media were present during the De La Salle University Lady Spikers’ meet and greet event at the Henry Sy Hall in Taft Avenue. De Jesus did his best stay away from the media and ducked out of the event early.
Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. acting president Peter Cayco came out with a statement last Tuesday, saying De Jesus had resigned due to his numerous commitments. Cayco also admitted that he had not directly talked to De Jesus about his resignation, saying he only got word from De Jesus’ assistant coach Benson Bocboc.
This is par for the course for De Jesus.
The 11-time UAAP champion coach has always avoided controversy and speaking to media, especially in ambush situations.
However, he seemed to be in a good mood during the meet and greet, posing for pictures with fans and alumni.
The PWVNT is gearing for the Asian Games with new head coach Shaq Delos Santos, who is expected to release a final lineup in the coming days.
