Rain or Shine forced to sit out Greg Smith II due to lack of LOC

Rain or Shine was forced to play all-Filipino in its PBA Governors’ Cup encounter versus Terrafirma, Thursday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

As reported by One Sports’ Apple David, Greg Smith II has yet to gain clearance from the basketball federation of the Dominican Republic (FEDOMBAL) as he remains under evaluation, and therefore can’t play yet.

The 32-year-old guard played previously in the Caribbean country.

Smith, though, is with the Elasto Painters and in uniform against the Dyip.

But then, he can’t see action until the FEDOMBAL clears his status. It remains to be seen, too, what Rain or Shine’s plan of action is, given that the ball club is hoping for stability in its import situation in the conference.

Smith was brought in to replace Michael Qualls.

The Omaha, Nebraska native made his PBA debut last February 12, producing 38 points, six rebounds, five assists, and a steal to help the Elasto Painters breakthrough with a 122-117 victory over Blackwater.

The result of the Rain or Shine-Blackwater game though will not be overturned.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
