Rain or Shine is bringing in a familiar face for the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Elasto Painters will parade Michael Qualls as their import for the season-ending conference, the ball club announced via social media Thursday.
Qualls is best known for his time with NorthPort in the 2019 edition of the tilt, where he helped the Batang Pier reach just their second semis in team history.
Then a replacement for Mychal Ammons, the G-League veteran averaged 32.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks in 11 games.
Qualls is coming off a stint with Al Riyadi Beirut in 2019.
Now, the former Arkansas Razorback will suit up for a Rain or Shine side looking to end a lengthy playoff drought in the Governors’ Cup.
The Elasto Painters haven’t gotten past the eliminations in five years, or since falling short of disarming TNT’s twice-to-beat edge in the 2017 quarterfinals.
WIth coach Yeng Guiao back in tow, RoS is coming off a quarters finish in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup.
