Racal does not miss a beat, demolishes Topstar

Racal didn’t miss a beat, battering Topstar ZC Mindanao with a 59-point demolition, 124-65, Tuesday in the 2016 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Jonathan Grey captained the rout with 19 points, four assists, and two rebounds to carry the Tile Masters to their sixth win in eight games.

Robby Celiz and Raphael Banal both tallied 17 markers apiece, as all 14 players scored in the blowout.

“I just told the players that we can’t relax with a team like Mindanao,” said Racal head coach Caloy Garcia. “Medyo maganda na ang nilalaro nila the past few games. “

“We were just able to get a good lead early and we never gave it up.”

Racal were spot on from the get-go, racing to a commanding 17-point lead after the first quarter, 31-14, and further pounded on the hapless Aguilas.

It also didn’t help that Topstar ZC Mindanao’s JR Cawaling and Robin Rono sat the game out due to illnesses.

Gino Jumao-as led the Aguilas with 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists, but the Aguilas remain in the cellar at 0-7.

The Scores:

Racal (124) – Grey 19, Banal 17, Celiz 17, Neypes 9, Terso 9, Javier 8, Paniamogan 8, Amboludto 6, Corpuz 6, Gabawan 6, Ortuoste 6, Robles 5, Lozada 4, Maiquez 4.
