Proud Cebuano JR Quiñahan will have a memorable chance to play in front of his fellow Cebuanos, as he has been named to the PBA Visayas All-Star team that will face Chooks Gilas Pilipinas tonight at Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.
The six-foot-six big man will step into the spot vacated by Star Hotshots forward Aldrech Ramos, who is currently nursing a fractured nose that he had sustained during his team’s clash with San Miguel Beermen weeks ago.
“Masaya pa rin na nakasama sa All-Star team,” the 32-year-old Globalport Batang Pier center told SPIN.ph.
“[It’s an] Honor tsaka nakaka-proud lalo na home court dito sa Cebu, so mamaya, we’ll give our best para sa preparation for Gilas.”
Quiñahan is playing a notable role as a frontcourt enforcer for the Batang Pier, and he is currently averaging 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 27.2 minutes of action in the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup.
With Quiñahan’s addition to the Tim Cone-mentored side, the team’s current build now consists of LA Tenorio, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, two-time MVP James Yap, Joe Devance, Jeff Chan, Chris Ross, Chris Ellis, Dondon Hontiveros, Ronald Tubid, Jericho Cruz, and now-15-time All-Star Asi Taulava.
The Visayas All-Stars will test the mettle of the SEABA-bound 11-man line-up of the Nationals tonight at 6:30 PM.
