Ivy Lacsina took over in the clutch as F2 Logistics averted a major collapse against Farm Fresh, 28-26, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8 in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena on Tuesday afternoon.
Lacsina dropped seven big points in the final frame to finish with 27 points on 21 attacks, four blocks, and two aces to help the Cargo Movers force a tie with Akari and Cignal at the sixth spot with identical 3-2 win-loss records.
Also playing big for the short-handed F2 Logistics is rookie Jolina Dela Cruz, who fired 27 points as well built on 25 attacks laced with 10 excellent receptions in the 2-hour, 14-minute bounce-back win.
The Cargo Movers missed the services of Myla Pablo (back), Kim Fajardo (knee), and Kianna Dy (knee) in game.
“Syempre it’s still a learning process. Maybe this is a part of the parang birth pains of having a younger players kasi syempre karamihan ng nasa loob mga bata,” said F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego.
“So syempre kailangan pa rin sila turuan how to make points, what to feel, ano yung play. Marami pang kailangang guidance but syempre a win is a win, but we have to learn every game kasi yung mga next few games namin hihirap pa siya nang hihirap,” she added.
After failing to close out the game in the fourth set, the Cargo Movers surged to a 6-3 start in the decider before Lacsina, Dela Cruz, and Ara Galang joined hands in a 6-2 blast that extended their lead to 12-5.
Both teams traded hits before Lacsina finally ended the game with a searing cross-court attack.
“Maganda siya kasi at least nare-realize nila how it is kapag nagsasayang kayo ng points, nare-realize nila na kailangan pala ng ganto. I mean this team kasi they need more reminders, they need more guidance because they’re still young,” said Diego.
Ara Galang added a triple-double of 13 points, 19 excellent receptions, and 14 excellent digs while Aby Marano and Ethan Arce each contributed seven points in the win for F2 Logistics.
Dawn Catindig put on a defensive masterclass with 34 excellent digs while Mars Alba recorded 17 excellent sets to go along with three points.
F2 Logistics will take on Gerflor on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the same Pasig venue.
Trisha Tubu had another big game for the Foxies, resetting her PVL career-high by unloading 30 points on 28 attacks and two blocks to go along with 12 excellent digs.
Unfortunately, Farm Fresh failed to get the elusive win despite Tubu’s performance as they dropped to 0-7 in the conference. This is the team’s 12th consecutive loss since joining the league in the Invitational Conference.
Kate Santiago had 14 points and eight excellent receptions while Alyssa Bertolano chipped in 10 points.
Louie Romero dished out 20 excellent sets while Cae Lazo collected 23 excellent digs and five excellent receptions.
Farm Fresh will look to save its campaign against Gerflor on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
