PVL: Choco Mucho soars to share of lead, halts Galeries streak

Choco Mucho halted Galeries Tower’s two-game dream run with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-17 romp in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, Tuesday.

The Flying Titans rose to 6-1 to create a three-way logjam on top of the 12-team field with Creamline and PLDT.

“Masaya ako sa naging performance namin. Sobrang thankful ako kasi lahat ng ipinasok ko na player nag-deliver naman,” said Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin.

“Si Deanna rin nakuha na rin unti-unti yung rhythm niya sa paglalaro. Sana lang magtuloy tuloy yung mga ganong sitwasyon na nagagamit namin yung iba kasi pagdating sa end ng game, kakailanganin namin yun,” he added.

It was Galeries who actually got the early upperhand in the third set, 8-6, but Sisi Rondina, Royse Tubino, and Cherry Nunag linked up to give Choco Mucho the win.

Rondina still put up 16 points while Nunag added 12 points.

Isa Molde got nine points, Royse Tubino had seven, while Maika Ortiz provided five points in two sets.

On the other hand, the Highrisers fell to 2-5, for joint-eighth with Akari.

Audrey Paran paced Galeries with nine points and eight digs while France Ronquillo delivered eight points as Graze Bombita, who starred in their back-to-back wins, only played limited minutes in the first frame, finishing with two points.

Both teams will be back on Saturday when the PVL visits Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna anew.

Galeries looks to regain its winning ways against Akari at 2 p.m. while Choco Mucho seeks its third straight win at 4 p.m. against Capital1.
